Artificial Intelligence is 50 years old

Artificial Intelligence as a Study field was born in the summer of 1956 Through a seminal workshop at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.

It was just a year before that when Marvin Minsky, Nathaniel Rochester, Claude Shannon, and John McCarthy proposed they ought to have a workshop to compile a roadmap about how to make machines think and learn equally to people.

The best goal was to discover computational models so as to enable machines to do commonsense reasoning. Today, John McCarthy is considered the father of AI.  I should notice that the term" Artificial Intelligence" appeared for the first time in the proposal put forth from the earlier mentioned scientists. And so this new discipline that will finally captivate everyone's creativity was born.

Artificial Intelligence had its own ups and downs from the last 50 years. Early success solving little problems in simulation ignited a flurry of predictions regarding super-intelligent machines all around the planet before the coming of the 21st century. Hampered by a lack of a fantastic comprehension of how commonsense reasoning operates in people and too little computational resources, computers were slow up until the mid-nineties, AI research stalled in the 80s. A lot of people hurried to dismiss it as nothing more than hot air.

But science is all about suggesting and testing new theories so as to locate the very best ones. Since the mid-90s, AI research has advanced by leaps and bounds. We finally have a better understanding of how the human mind works and that's helped us to find and test better computational models for AI. These, in turn, have also helped us to understand the functions of the human brain. New techniques like statistical evaluation are helping intelligent agents to copy with considerable amounts of data and noisy detectors. Faster computers with enormous amounts of storage are enabling us to experiment in more challenging domain names and solve larger issues.

It is true that AI has not yet managed to produce a machine capable of commonsense reasoning. But, by specialty, many AI systems are actually running our world these days. AI helps us fly planes and drive our automobiles. It helps doctors to perform operation.

It helps individuals find info in the vastness of the World Wide Web. It helps us find spam email and promptly delete it. It helps us schedule traffic lights and public transportation. It helps us examine financial markets and also make predictions about the outcome of sports events. It assists in the surveillance of public spaces enhancing safety and security. These are just a small sample of this penetration of smart systems in our everyday lives. Artificial Intelligence is here to stay and I wager it won't be long before we have the knowledge, methods, and resources to finally construct learning and thinking machines. Let us hope that such technologies would only be used to benefit mankind and not ruin it.
